“This place is heaven on earth.”
- Sue and Larry

The Belmont Room is named after the Belmont family.
Mrs.Caroline Belmont, daughter of Commodore Matthew
Perry, commissioned George Champlin Mason to build the
Belmont Estate called
By-the-Sea which was completed in 1860.
Unfortunately, the building was demolished in 1946 and
the land was combined with that of
Rosecliff Masion,
which is still open for tours through the
Newport Preservation
Society.
